(348 votes)  For a writer to sit before a blank page, as a painter before a white canvass or general before a bloodless field; before the first scribble of creation, is a moment like no other. The writer is consumed by the trice of bliss, jollity, determination, and sensitive to a true and deepest affection.

(343 votes)  The words bloom like Spring flowers and pullulate as falling leaves in Autumn. Fresh invigorate swirls of the pen delight the pages with imagery, symbolism, theater, and emotion that pulsates with the passion of an estranged lover's heart. Love is where it comes from. A love that defies words and entertains madness.

(329 votes)  When daily you write intensively, one day of laziness subjects you to a suffering of unfamiliar compunction. The words can freeze and the state of privation worsens with idleness. Thus, a day off for a writer is chancy and, in conclusion, solely a luxury of other professions.

By the day I left I was again conflicted and depressed.

(315 votes)  I do not know at all when it commenced. Why, how or where I was senescent or frittering away. I do not remember the hue of the sun or the colorful glow of Saturn. Nor can I recall the scent of the wind or texture of my final meal. It was long after the cholera epidemic though before the war. Of course! Maybe the lieu that night where I almost froze tucked in the mountains of Brasil or a sweltering evening perched with terror under the cover of a mackinaw in a jungle in southern Mexico pondering when l’horde of mutinous rebels would assail our humble party. Maybe it was that afternoon below a sphere of blue decadence and bizarrely visible gibbous moon, gambling with the soldiers and concubines by the steeplechase at Cobh or in that medina within or near al-mamlaka al-maghribiya where primitives appeared. The starving angered Migrants were ravenous, ready to slit our gullets and strip us of our bread. A foray indeed; who really knows when the addiction to batter the quill to paper begins?

(19 votes)  The greatest writers of all are not the ones who spend their whole life reading books and changing the events in the story by asking themselves,What if this happened?, but are the ones who spend their time dreaming, writing down their thoughts, and having the courage to let known their own vision that is written on a piece of paper.
